Question Is the Vortex Valve really worth buying?

I have listened to several radio stations in Portland, Oregon and they are running an ad about the Vortex Valve. They state that it will boost your engine performance 10-25% and cut your fuel usage by 10-25%. Is this for real and is the $69.95 worth it?

If it were really that effective, chances are most car manufacturers would have already installed one.

It's the first time I've heard of it, but it sounds like another clone of the Turbonator / Tornado / Spiralmax under yet another name - but, amusingly, with the same price. We've got a huge discussion about those in the Performance Mods thread.

I'd have to respectfully disagree with that comment. There are many things that can be done for mileage and performance that OEM's dont.

Yes, you're right there, yet another Vortex generator. I've seen a couple of people get small increases though nothing like the ads claims. Most of the units I've seen spin the air the wrong direction for this hemisphere to boot.

The biggest things you can do for increased mileage are keep car in top tune/shape and drive for mileage. These two things can double mileage over a poorly tuned vehicle that is driven hard from stoplight to stoplight.

The vast majority of mileage devices are junk and highly overpriced. You can build your own 'tornado clone' for nothing if you have some scrap sheet metal or even an old coffee can around the house.

Testing on these and countless other devices will be found at:

Vortex Valve and all Similar Shams

Do a Google Search for reviews of all these devices.

You'll find that none of them work - they're all frauds!

    The search saved me $70.

    Wink

Sorry that everyone is so skeptical. I bought one 2 months ago and immediately upped my highway mpg's on my 2005 Sonata from 26 to 29. I'm getting one for each of my kids as well.
Since then I have also started using another product that has also increased my mpg's. I am now getting 33 on the highway. Sure beats 26 and I like knowing that I am helping reduce air pollution.
