My Alpine CDA 7998 HU went belly up recently. First the display started flashing, then all of the controls became inert, and finally the display, once retracted, will no longer launch from the 'stealth' position. I contacted an Alpine dealer who indicated that the unit needed to be sent to the Manufacturer where it would be evaluated for $25. Then, if they had the parts, they would fix it..........but not at a flat rate. Unit is 8 years old and originally retailed for $800. What do you think? Is it worth fixing?
