    2005 Accord or Camry

I am planning to purchase a new car next summer (June). My two picks are down to Accord EX V-6 or Camry XLE V-6 both in automatic. They both gave a a good feel during test drives. I liked the Camry's smooth shifting and acceleration. Anyone out there have some feedback for me? I also opted against navigation systems, as I think those are gimmicks. Anyway, let me know.

You really think you can't go wrong with either car. They are both excellent (but generic) cars. I say pick the one you think drives better.

Moneywise... I think you get more in an Accord for the same among of money on a Camry. Like moonroof, leather.

In term of the car or engin... I find it is more fun to drive an Accord. The VTEC engine come to alive when you step on it. Camry... kind of boring.

I test drove both the 05 camry and 05 accord (4 cyl models), and chose the accord. They both are very similar, but the Accord has a little more personality than the camry...it can actually be kind of fun to drive. I stayed away from the V6 accord because it felt heavier, and not any faster than the 4cyl., plus the gas mileage rocks. I have under 5K miles on my accord and am getting 30-31 mpg.

The accord would be my pick among these two, despite its ugly rear end. Honda Motor Co. makes great engines. They are both pretty boring cars though. Have you driven a Mazda 6, Altima SE-R, or Acura TSX?

    re: accord vs camry

    I bought a 2005 EX-L V6 accord sedan 3 nights ago.

My wife had a 2003 Accord that we traded. It was the 4cylinder.

I also owned a 2004 EX-L V6 - the R version, coupe with 6sp standard. This car would go 120mph without much sweat.

First, let me say there is a TON of difference in the performance of the 4cy vs the V6. No comparison. That being said the 4cylinder does handle itself nicely, and will cruise the highway at 80mph, no sweat.

In terms of the Accord vs the Camry, let me say this:
*The interior of the Accord is WAAY nicer than the Camry
*The exterior of the Camry is nicer, looks better (the rear of the Accord is just ugly)

However, the following 2 points are true:
    1) The accord is more powerful
    2) The accord has higher resale value

When buying a Truck, I go Toyota everytime, but when buying a car, it's honda for me. I did consider the Maxima, but the resale value alone makes it not seem like a good choice. I don't think the general quality is up as high, but that's merely conjecture.
