Greatings to forum members. I have just purchased a 2007 Mitsubishi Montero V6 3.0 (148 HP) assembled in Bogotá Colombia from componants shipped from Japan. My other vehicle is a 2006 Mazda B2600 4x4 also assembled in Bogotá from Japanese componants. Both vehicals seem to be slightly updated versions (emissions for example) of models and technology that were on sale in the U.S. in the early nineties. I have found the Mazda to be top notch after more than a year of ownership but have some big complaints after a day with the Montero. First is I am only 5´10" but the driving position is quite cramped even with the seat pushed all the way back. Second: the Mistsu has springs below the seats that supposedly offer greater comfort off-road and provide three seat height settings. The middle and lowest settings require compression of those springs. The middle setting is just possible if you hug the seat cusheon and pull mightely on the floor rails. The lowest setting is not possible at all manually save for a 450 pound man maybe with a lot of strength. I have fashioned a tool that together with a C-clamp will compress the seat enough to click in to the low position but since my much smaller wife and I will frequently interchange driving duties this solution is far from practical. And since both fronts seats have the same extreme resistence I suspect this is a Mitsubishi design flaw and not a faulty seat. Anyone with Montero experience care to comment?
