    Smart car videos

The U.S. government will test the smart car after it arrives on the market. Builders predict it will receive four out of five stars in American crash tests. European models recently received four out of five stars in Euro New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) tests.
Here are the videos of some amazing smart cars.

    Thumbs down Smart Car

I have always been a skeptic, especially regarding small vehicle impacts. Yes; the Smart Car faired well, however hitting a wall, and a devasting frontal hwy collision are two different things.

I believe that any hwy travesty with two vehicles, one smart car vs huge truck would show obvious results. Total annilation of the smart car.

    Unfortunatley

    Hammer

smart cars use a tridium cell to save the occupants in the event of a crash. Of course, the law of physics cannot be overcome if the smart car gets taken out by a HUGE truck. OTH, what are the chances of getting taken out by an 18-wheeler if you are a conscientious driver?

Absolutely! They were originally intended to navigate the tight streets of European cities. I spotted them in Rome back in '04 and they were perfect for the urban neighborhoods were roadways are narrow and parking spots are a premium.

Daimler had to add bunch of safety equipment to meet the U.S. safety standards. Of course this caused the smart car to gain some weight and fuel economy went in the opposite direction.

True, but I've driven from Oxford (UK) to Frankfurt am Main (Germany) quite happily... and home again
A little hairy at 115mph on the Autobahn I admit.
