Sounds like you're on a Sony budget. You could probably get a complete Sony system (Head, speakers, amp and subs) for $250. It wont win you any competitions but it will sound 100x better than a stock Volvo system.

For the speakers, do you plan on running a pair of components or what?
    How many subs?

    oh boy...where to start....

Can't comment on the amp...never heard of Lanzar.
Pyramid is generally a brand to stay away from. Pretty crappy from what I hear.
    The Bestbuy link didn't work.
I think you could do better with the subs. Let me see what I can find.

It would help to have some specifics if Im to find the best prices.
    btw..How big are the speakers?

I'll give it a shot. Lets see what I can find.

Lanzar decent amps. Dont get Pyramid really crap. Umm if its at walmart and a sub doubt its good. They do sell cheap HUs there like the lower line Pioneer. Might wanna try to hit up Ebay and see waht u can scrounge up. Thats a pretty limited budget, especially when I spend more then that on just a CD player, or a Woofer or a pair of speakers ;) I am all about the higher end stuff. And I try to stay away from sony stuff.
    Thats my 2 cents.

You don't want any of that ****! I would suggest that you buy a pair of MB quart Ref comps around $150-180. Get a profile amp for another $80-100. that will be a million time better then what you have then in the future when you have more moeny then buy a sub and amp for it. Its kinda like tuning your car you don't buy all the stuff at once and then put it on. You buy a piece here and one there and slowly after a couple of years you have a nice system and it won't seem liek you spent alot on it!

Both of those are crappy speakers. Just happens the other is in a bandbass box haha so it most likely sound like ass cause yea most people cant properly design a bandbass box.
    Thats my 2 cents.

www.mobiletoys.com Good site for that, and the sizes are:

4" front and rear 2" mounting depth.
    Thats my 2 cents.

With a $250 budget eBay should be your best friend.

$250 for speakers, sub, HU, and amp? That's gonna be close, but I'm gonna try.

    Speakers: CDT CL-4X $50 http://www.thezeb.com/detail.aspx?ID=1077
    Sub: Pioneer Premier TS-W125DVC $55 http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/1625
Amp: MTX 311D $100 on ebay.

That leaves you roughly $45 for shipping, wiring, and box materials (build your own, it's not hard, and then you have the satisfaction of doing it yourself).

I've seen the MTX2300X go on ebay for less than a $100. Well worth the money, 200x2@4ohms, 350x2@2ohms, 750x1@4ohms.

I noticed I missed the HU, but that's not really necessary. That amp has high leve inputs, so you can just hook up the rear speaker wires to the amp, and you're set, of course, you wont have sound coming from the rear speakers, but, if you want good imaging, you don't want sound coming from the back.
