94 VW Golf problem

I was driving today and all the sudden my car won't accelerate, it feels like I was pressing the break but my foot is on gas. I had my engine checked out a few months back and the spark plugs and wires and a bunch of other stuff were replaced, the car was running strong until today. The engine didn't die or make funny noise, and the transmission still feels like its shifting right, so is my fuel pump going bad? The car has close to 133000 miles on it and from what I know the car has never been maintenanced until I got it Any mechanics here to tell me what's going on? I need this car to at least last for another 2 years until I graduate from college...

It is going to the shop Monday to replace a tierod and wheel bearing, but I guess now I have more things to spent my money on

I'm not saying this is your problem but one of the symptoms of a bad catalytic convertor is lack of accelleration. Bad gas mileage is another and sometimes a rotten egg smell (sulfer). On a car this age it would not surprise me if this is ONE of the problems.
