    HELP!! Clarion DXZ935 HU install

My experience with car audio installs would not be professional by any means, but I would say I have extensive knowledge in the subject. However, I can't seem to get this unit to do anything but light up, literally. I have the HU wiring diagram and I am following what the universal wiring harness wires say. The wiring diagram says to connect the Orange wire (used for illumination) to the power lead. I did this. Note: when I had this lead connected to the dimmer, the unit didn't even light up.
The manual for the HU says that if it powers on but doesn't work to make sure that the leads aren't dirty on the part of the HU that detaches. This doesn''t seem to be the problem. I also tried resetting the HU by depressing the tiny reset button.
Any help with this problem will be greatly greatly appreciated , as it sucks to not have any stereo in my car currently.

Take a look there. Do the wire colors match what you see above? Insulate the ends of any and all orange wires on your vehicle wiring harness. There is no dimmer function on many (if not all) aftermarket units. Make sure that the red connects only to red, black only to black, and yellow only to yellow.

    Thanks for the reply

That diagram is pretty close, I will double check that all colors are matched correctly. I am not sure what the exact name of the things are, that I am using to connect the wires, but they are the small cone shaped things that twist around the wires and cover the stripped portion of both wires completely. I am using these for connecting all wires coming from the HU.

    Got it Workin

Thanks a lot for your help Tempe. The only thing I was missing was having the red wire from the HU connected to the 12v power wire on the wire harness. Thanks for your help.

That was a bit of sarcasm on my part, in response to something ijoey had said. But I get the feeling you already knew that...

Anyway, he has the 935, I have the 925. Same deck, minus a few watts...

    simple

this is what you do. forget about all the orange wires unless you want the dimmer to work on your radio, which no one ever really uses. cap these orange wires off individually, and connect the yellow constant power wire from the deck to the matching yellow wire from the harness. match the remaining colors and your in their buddy.
