    The New Box [Prototype]

    Here's a 3D solid model of the new box, complete with modelled woofer, Let me know what you guys think. ;)

    Inner Material: 6-ply Maple drum shell, 16"diameter x 14" length (from Adonis Drums )
    Outer Mounting Plate Material: 3/4" MDF
    Total Internal volume: 1.6 cubic feet (estimated)
    Subwoofer: Adire Audio Shiva 12"
    Supplied Power: 300-400WRMS

    you should leave the batter maybe itd function like a passive radiator it might get pretty loud

    Maybe, but only at the frequency to which you tune the drum head. Anything other than that will sound pretty ugly.

    Also, the only downside to this box that I can see is the price. The lowest price I was able to find on a maple drum shell that has no holes drilled in it (for mounting drum hardware) is $70, plus shipping. I might just go with a simple MDF box instead.

    No need. I have a drumset of my own I can cannibalize at will, but I don't want to have to worry about sealing all the holes from the mounting hardware and the 1/2" diameter mini-port on the side of the drum shell. I'd rather start with a nice, clean, solid shell. Or just build an MDF box for $30. ;)
