I am making a sticky out of this thread because it seems that a lot of users/guests have this problem. Before you post here please read the entire thread; your question may have already been answered. Also, please do not message me looking for unlock codes. I do not have them. Thank you.

    Help!

Hi, my name is Peggy and I was wondering if you could help me with a little problem. I had a new stereo in my 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix, but it was stolen. Now I have my old stereo in my car, but it is not hooked up and I need the LOCK CODE. I do not have the owner's manual, so I don't know how to get the unlock code in the first place. Would you be able to help me with this? I would be very grateful. Thank you!

    -Peggy

    Pontiac Grand Prix-radio lock out

Hello. It seems that I am not the only one experiencing this problem. The dealer in my town wants to charge me $45 for them to call in to get the code. Should I try the "Press & hold the 2 & 3 buttons @ the same time for about 10 seconds" instructions from an earlier post? Can anyone help me? Thanks so much!!

Press & hold the 2 & 3 buttons @ the same time for about 10 seconds; a 2 or 3 digit code will appear, write this # down, press & hold the am/fm button for about 10 seconds: another code will appear, write this # down, then call 1-800-537-5140 and enter 202108 followed by the # key, then enter the #'s that you wrote down from your radio followed by the * key. The call will give you a 3 or 4 digit override code. Write this code # down so you have it if you ever need it again. Enter this # into your radio following the instructions in your owners manual. If you get an override code that starts with 0, you drop the 0 when entering the code into your radio.
If you don't have an owners manual, try this, press & hold the hour button until the first 2 digits of your code come up, then press & hold the minute button until the last 2 digits show. Then press the am/fm button. This should reset your stereo. It did mine.
    Hope you find this helpful.
kdunville, you are the bomb! This worked perfectly. I just saved the dealer charge and the visit to the dealer to drop off my car and wait for the reset! Thanks!!

Hi! I seem to be in the same situation as everyone else. My parents just removed this radio from their van because it was locked. They said I could have it, and I'm trying to figure out how to decode it. I've read through this post and I'm going to try what kdunville suggested. So wish me luck! If I have any problems, I will post back.

Can anyone help unlock a radio for a 2004 chevy 2500 van?

Can anyone help unlock a radio for a 2004 chevy 2500 van?

I have tried everything. It's really annoying just because the fricken battery died. And because it's a work van and they don't want to pay for the dealer to take care of it I'm stuck all day in a van with no radio. IT SUCKS!!

I tried to hit the min button while it says LOC but that didn't work. I tried press and hold 2 and 3 for 10 seconds. But nothing happens. I can't get it to say anything other than LOC after I turn it on. But I can get it to play while at acc. I did find out it's not an RDS so I'm hoping someone can help me figure this out. I've tried everything mentioned in this post thus far, but have had no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't even get it to power up anymore. So just ignore my last post. I'm going to tell my job that if they don't fix it then I'm turning in my 2 weeks notice. I can't be expected to spend 8 hours a day in a van with nothing but complete silence. Thanks anyways to ... well I guess no one since no one responsed. Take it easy all.

    Delco radio lock out

What a great forum for questions and answers. The response to assist lockout of these new radios is fantastic. Can anyone answer two additional questions?
    1. If you don't have the radio reset code numbers and your radio still works, is there a procedure to follow with the working radio go give you that number before it goes out? ie. special keystrokes etc.
    2. Is there a way to keep power to the radio while changing the battery to avoid loss of memory.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Thumbs up Thanks to kdunville

Hats off to kdunville for the answer on how to unlock my radio. I could not believe that my dealer wanted to charge me $40 to do that. I am sooooooo happy that I found this website, within minutes I had my tunes blaring. Anyway, this was the best find. Talk to you all soon, Lisa.

    Radio Blackout

Ok, I unpluged my radio, which is a #3, to install a cd player I found, but it ended up that the cd player didn't work. When I reinstalled the factory radio, it did not even power up, none of the wires were cut to install or remove the cd player, I bought a wiring harness for it. I aslo checked all of the fuses to make sure none of the were blown. Is there some kind of reset button on the car somewhere that resets the radio? Has anyone else had this probles? Please help!
