My 2000 Impala, purchased with 1000 miles on it has suddenly started making a squealing noise. It tends to go away when the car gets heated up or when I press the gas. Sometimes it comes in rotational churps or can be a constant squeal. I have had it to 3 mechanics already. I replaced the serpentine belt and had a full trans service. 2 of the mechanics think the noise is coming from the trans but the car is driving perfectly fine with no slippage. Oh, I have 46,000 miles on the car!! The next step is to spend alot of money for the mechanic to pull out the trans. They both said they never heard anything like this noise from the trans before. I completely don't know what to do. Wait until it breaks down and deal with the noise or get rid of it or spend alot of money searching further for the problem.
