Angry Caution when buying Nissan Products

If you plan to buy a Nissan product I suggest you do lots of research about the mechanical reliability of the vehicle, especially previous years. I bought a 2001 Nissan Sentra GXE and this is what has been replaced to date:

6,314 miles-Gear and linkage replaced in Rack & Pinion Steering; 7,807 miles-Replace 6 bolts on Transvers (axle?); 12,907 miles- Replace sensor kit and replace all four wheels; 29,784 miles-Remove ECM foam and engine sensor kit; 27,894 miles-Replace auto transmission; 53,094 miles-Replace mass air flow and sensor and value cover gasket; 59,403 miles-Replace alternator; 68,926 miles-Replace ECM and idle control valve; 80,049 miles-Replace ECM (again) and catalytic converter. The ECM problems has lots of postings on auto review sites.

In addition, Nissan are extremely rigid in their warranty terms. Buyer Beware!

    Just curious

Anyone else have excessive history of repairs with their Nissan?

Overall rating for the Nissan Sentra, on our site, is 4.27 on a scale of 1 - 5. Right now I can't believe it is all bad.

Maybe not all bad but go to: http://www.carsurvey.org/viewcomments_review_66897.html
for a start in reading similar complaints. Lots of other web sites also with complaints. Does six recalls sound like a quality car?

not to argue, but how well do you drive? Nissan has satisfactory quality, not the best but it is tolerable. You have replaced a lot, any of that due to the driver?

Six repairs were recalls. The ECM is basically a computer and when it fails it takes other sensors, etc. with it. Do not think driver has any bearing on it. In any event, driver is a female college student with majority city driving. 12,000 miles per year-car should last longer than this. Transmission should last more than 27,000 miles.
