Optima Battery

I need to know if i should upgrade my car battery in an 05 grand prix gxp i mean the battery is 5 years old now so soon ill need a battery any how so wat do you guys think of getting an optima battery or wat else should i upgrade while im at it any suggestions please. By the way my system is 2 kicker 500.1 amps pushing 2 jl audio w6 subwoofers so my battery is bad at times.

Less weight, higher cranking amp performance and power, sealed battery that doesn't leak - what's not to like?

Oh, the cost. Price of an Optima battery is 2 - 3 times more than a Diehard Gold or Interstate battery. If you are okay with shelling out the money for an Optima battery, than I say go for it!

I think you should change your battery.

There is a bullet fired into Optima is a huge hole in the middle. Although the interior is exposed to the battery, there are no leaks when you put in the car, it worked perfectly.

Hello, I noticed your conversation regarding our batteries and wanted to offer some assistance. bhorton0508, given the aftermarket audio components you’ve installed, a battery with deep-cycle features, like our YellowTop, might be more appropriate for your vehicle. You should also review your electrical system, including your alternator and wiring, to make sure they are also up to the task.

danielhenry31, we cannot recommend continued use of the battery you described, but I’d love to see a picture of it, if you can post one. If anyone has any questions about our batteries, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Optima uses a spiral wound core in a gel medium. It has more lead surface area to give you extra power reserve and cranking power. Its vibration proof, if in an accident the acid is gelled and will not fly about as the liquid acid in a conventional battery. The downside? It costs a bit more and Optima line still does not fit all vehicles.

Just as a point of clarification, Optima batteries are SpiralCell, lead-acid AGM (absorbed glass mat) batteries, which is not the same as a "gel" battery. In most situations, an Optima can be treated and charged just like a regular lead-acid battery. However, some chargers have "gel" or confusing "AGM/gel" settings. These settings should not be used on an Optima battery, as they will not fully-charge the battery and could damage it.

I’ve read your concern and found out that you need to replace your Optima Battery immediately. I suggest you go to store where automotive parts are available.

Sneaky way of spamming and linking to a retail website, but the online store really does stock Optima batteries. I checked out the store and was able to find an Optima battery for my car.
